The Association of Female ASM Workers
The role of women in ASM is often overlooked, yet women play a significant part in the sector, from processing and refining minerals to supporting family businesses. SRADHA actively works with women in ASM, empowering them with the tools, skills, and knowledge to improve their working conditions, increase their income, and gain equal recognition in the sector.
Our initiatives include:
- Capacity Building & Leadership Training for Women: SRADHA offers leadership training programs to women in ASM, equipping them with skills in negotiation, advocacy, and organizational management. These programs help women take on leadership roles within their communities and become powerful voices for change in the mining sector.
- Improving Working Conditions for Women: SRADHA advocates for the inclusion of women in decision-making processes and works to address gender-specific challenges, such as unequal wages, unsafe working conditions, and limited access to resources. We promote safe, equitable working environments for female ASM workers and ensure that they have access to the same protections and rights as their male counterparts.
- Establishing the Association of Female ASM Workers: To amplify women’s voices and influence policies, SRADHA has supported the establishment of the Association of Female ASM Workers. This organization acts as a platform for women in the sector to come together, share their experiences, and advocate for better working conditions and equal opportunities in the mining industry.
By focusing on these key areas, SRADHA is driving a positive transformation in the ASM sector, ensuring that workers—especially women—benefit from safer practices, greater economic opportunities, and recognition in policy discussions. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, SRADHA is helping build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient ASM industry.
