Livelihood Alternatives & Skill Training

Livelihood Alternatives & Skill Training

At SRADHA, we recognize that many ASM workers, particularly women and marginalized groups, rely on mining as their primary source of income. However, the unregulated and hazardous nature of traditional mining often limits long-term economic growth and well-being. SRADHA works to diversify income sources and offer viable livelihood alternatives for ASM workers.

Our initiatives include:

  • Skill Development & Vocational Training: SRADHA provides vocational and technical training in alternative livelihoods such as sustainable farming, animal husbandry, craftsmanship, and small business development. This empowers ASM workers to develop new skills that offer long-term financial stability, reducing their dependency on dangerous mining practices.
  • Entrepreneurship & Market Access: Through entrepreneurship training, SRADHA enables ASM workers to start small businesses, whether in agribusiness, handicrafts, or services, which are integrated into the local economy. Additionally, we help connect workers to markets where they can sell their products and services, increasing their income and economic resilience.
  • Income Diversification Strategies: SRADHA promotes income diversification by helping communities transition to other sectors, such as eco-tourism, local crafts, or sustainable agriculture. These strategies provide workers with alternatives to ASM, helping reduce the reliance on mining and fostering sustainable development.
